LG Innotek conducts various socio-civic activities such as helping the elderly, the disabled, and disadvantaged teens. We also contribute 1% of our executives¡¯ salaries as social contribution funds. We are striving to create a better world, sharing with the less fortunate who live among us.
We gave financial assistance to the bereaved families of victims of the West Sea military confrontation between the South and North and the Daegu subway fire calamities. We also provided assistance in the restoration of structures damaged by typhoon Maemi. We continue to share in the pain of disaster victims and their bereaved families. At the end of every year, we collect funds to help our poor neighbors, and we strive to make society a warmer, more welcoming place for people who have less in life.
To continuously and systematically pursue these social contribution campaigns, LG Innotek formed alliances with various socio-civic organizations.

In addition to social activities at the company-wide level, LG Innotek, through its workplaces, strives to contribute to the communities, and to provide continuing support for the development of these communities.
LG Innotek has formed an alliance with the Gwangju Branch of the Social Welfare Foundation to help disadvantaged teens who are also breadwinners. Each department sponsors a teenage breadwinner and visits and counsels him or her about the difficulties and challenges of working at such a young age. The teen is then invited to visit the company and ties are formed immediately. Letters of friendship are exchanged along with goods and other gifts. The company thus becomes involved in sharing the burden of life with these unfortunate teens.
In addition, we also donated 100 bags of rice to the Gwangju Elderly People Welfare Center which is home to elderly people who have nowhere else to go. We continue to donate TVs and various gifts to the Inhwa School, a welfare facility for the disabled. Every month, company workers visit the Vitgoeul Community in Damyang-eup which houses disabled people, helping them to resolve their difficulties and cope with the daily challenges of living.
Our Indonesian unit also does its share in making the world a better place. It donates goats to its neighboring dwellers during the Islamic Idul Adha holiday. This unit also provides scholarships to deserving high school graduates and conducts other social activities, creating a good corporate image in the domestic scene.
Together with these socio-civic activities, LG Innotek continues to pursue joint projects with schools and research institutes. In association with Gwangju City¡¯s policy on specialty business to promote the photonics industry, we currently conduct state-run projects initiated by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy, jointly with Korea Photonics Technology Institute and other firms in the photonics field.
We also conduct joint projects with Chonnam National University, the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, and other institutions as a type of commissioned R&D. We established the R&D Support Center at Chonnam National University, and created the Electronics Component R&D Complex at Hanyang National University. We currently conduct joint R&D projects with the academia and are able to offer a corporate-tailored master¡¯s degree course, while actively conducting corporate membership activities.
