LED is the green light source that does not include hazard substances such as mercury and lead, is low power consumption light and reduces the emission amount of CO2. Also it is semi-permanent that has a replacement period long enough to reduce the emission amount of wastes.

Summary of LED (Light Emitting Diode)

LED Structure and Operating PrinciplesLED is a Chemical semiconductor device creating the light when LED is forward biased current flows to LED chip). Light is generated through the electricity by connecting two compounds of semi-conductors, which are composed of P (Positive) type and N (Negative) type. LED can generate not only a visible light, but also non-visible light as like infrared rays and ultra violet rays. The visible light can make full color of lights by combining 3 colors (Red, Green, Blue) of LED, which make it possible to express full colors from white to red and violet. As for the white LED that creates the light similar to the natural light, it is generated either by combination of 3 color LEDs of Red, Green and Blue, or Blue color LED with Phosphor. Also LED is discrete light source that enables lights selected by areas.

  • 2 )Long lifetime : LED life time is longer than 50 thousand hours and fluorescent lamps (10 thousand hours) and incandescent lamps (a thousand hour) in the replacement period, which enables to reduce maintenance costs.
  • 3) Environment-friendly : Unlike other fluorescent and incandescent lamp, it is an green product without any Hazard substances such as mercury and lead. As a product with low power consumption and High efficiency, it is able to reduce the emission amount of CO2.
  • 4) Ultra Slim : The miniaturization enables the various application and the more diverse design for applied products. It will accelerate the slim design of hi-tech digital instrument such as cellular phones, notebooks, TVs, etc.
  • 5) Safety : Accidents can be prevented in advance since it is strong to shock, available for waterproof design and has a low fault. Also it is safe from fragments of glass.
