LG Innotek (CEO Ung-beom Lee) celebrated the fourth anniversary of its Hope Mentoring program this year.
The completion ceremony for this program took place on the 23rd of this month at LG Innotek”s head office in Jung-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by more than 100 people, including children and parents from multicultural families and LG Innotek executives and staff members.
Hope Mentoring began in 2010 as a corporate social responsibility program designed for executives and staff members to support children from multicultural families and help them grow into well-rounded members of Korean society. The program pairs mentors (company executives and staff members) with mentees (children from multicultural families) and presents them with opportunities to share and cultivate their dreams through cultural experiences, counseling, and other activities.
In May of this year, the program paired 20 mentors with mentees who live near one of the company”s six domestic worksites (Seoul, Gwangju, Gumi, Ansan, Osan, and Paju).
During the ceremony, participants spoke about their activities over the past 7 months and exchanged framed pictures. In addition, all of the children who participated in the program were presented with scholarships.
Bo-young Kim (32), a manager from the Communications Team who served as a mentor this year, said, “I feel proud to be able to work with such sweet children.” She added, “I hope they continue nurturing their dreams in whatever they do.”
LG Innotek will continue to provide practical assistance, such as mentoring, talent donation, and scholarships to children from multicultural families and community child centers to help them grow into the leaders of the future.
