LG Innotek’s labor union (chaired by Gi Dong Lee) has announced to fulfill its “USR (Union Social Responsibility)” for the first time in the Korean parts industry.
On February 28, LG Innotek and its labor union camp held a USR declaration ceremony to announce their vision and plan, at the company’s headquarters in Seoul. This was done in the presence of CEO, Ung Beom Lee and Union Head, Gi Dong Lee, along with 12 labor and management representatives.
The term, “USR” means the social responsibilities that are to be fulfilled by labor union members as neighbors of local communities.
At the ceremony, under their vision, “The Labor Union, promising a Bright Future,” LG Innotek’s labor union proclaimed the following three essential functions of the USR
△stand together to create visions of the labor union
△try to share and co-exist with society
△ to grow as part of the company.
They also made public their Working Plans for fulfilling their social responsibilities under the USR declaration.
“LG Innotek would never have been able to grow to how it is known today without the cooperation of the local communities around their operations including in Gwangju, Gumi, Paju, Osan and Cheongju,” said an official from the union. “We’ll proactively take actions to fulfill our social responsibilities, in giving helping hands to promote local economies and contributing to the society and natural environment.”
The labor union of LG Innotek plans to continue their effort to support the handicapped, local communities, and environmental cleanup activities, and will extend their missions to overseas operations, starting in 2014. Through these efforts the labor union will sincerely carry out their roles as global citizens of their own accord.
In addition, the union plans to share the status of their USR activities, including details of the union’s organizational structure, ethics, labor rights, social contributions, and environment.
