LG Innotek has developed two of the world’s smallest high-density ground- wave DMB modules.
-Meeting market demands for slim phones using the world’s smallest RF module (6.0mm×8.0mm×1.3t)
-Realizing high density with the world’s smallest receiver module (12mm×12mm ×1.4t)
-Offering optimal practicality by integrating parts needed in ground-wave DMB TV viewing into a single chip
LG Innotek (CEO: Young-Ho Hur, www.lginnotek.com) has developed and currently mass-produces two of the world’s smallest ground-wave Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) modules.
The ground-wave DMB module is used to separate ground-wave broadcasting signals, transmitted from a broadcasting station, into image and sound signals.
LG Innotek has developed two ground-wave DMB modules: the world’s smallest RF module, which allows one to select the desired frequency and amplify it; and the integrated receiver module, which offers optimal practicality by integrating Base Band, AV, and SDRAM functions needed for ground-wave broadcast viewing in a single module.
This integrated module has compressed spaces where several components are crammed into a very minimal space using excellent RF design technology and high-density packaging technology. The module’s size enables cellular phone makers to mount various functions in the phone terminal, and to greatly streamline the manufacturing process.
DMB modules from LG Innotek incorporate all functions required for DMB applications including: broadcasting signal reception, broadcasting channel selection, analog-to-digital signal conversion, Base Band Processing, and AV decoding.
A researcher from LG Innotek Institute said, “Although these two new modules are the smallest in the world, they are still packed with a variety of advanced functions. Accordingly, using these modules ensure the efficient functioning of DMB. That’s why this is the optimal DMB component for slim phones.”
