LG Innotek (CEO Ung-Beom Lee) Components and Materials R&D center donated about 2,800 science books for children to community childcare centers and libraries in Ansan City, Gyeonggi Province.

LG Innotek Components and Materials R&D center (Director Gi-Cheol Han) hold a ceremony to donate science books at Ansan City Volunteer Service Center on August 26, with about 20 LG Innotek officials in attendance.

LG Innotek has been donating more than 1,800 science books since last year to encourage children in the Ansan region, where the R&D center is situated, to have interest in science and IT, and develop into future scientists. LG Innotek conducted the same event again this year, and plans to donate science books every year in the future.

The science books donated this time will be delivered to four community childcare centers including Haeoreum Community Childcare Center, and two libraries including Hanyang Saemaeul Library by August 29.

Chang-Hyeon Choi, a team leader at the Company, said, “We hope that this donation will provide children, our hope for the future, to access diverse science books, and approach the science field in an easier and more exciting way,” adding, “We hope that these children will grow to Korea’s science and IT talents in the future.”

The donation has been made through “Hope Sharing Fund” which was raised through donation of a certain portion of their monthly salary by LG Innotek staff.

Additionally, the R&D center has been running “Children’s Science Class” for children from multicultural families since 2010. Every year, researchers with masters’ and doctorate degrees serve as lecturers in person every Saturday, and provide interactive science lectures, including conduct of experiment with children. More than 200 children from multicultural families have taken part in the program so far.

As well, LG Innotek has carried out a talent donation campaign, with its staff teaching children in the local community English, mathematics, music and cooking, as the Company will continue to provide study assistance for children in local communities.
