LG Innotek (CEO Ung-Beom Lee) on December 1 held a completion ceremony of its Third ‘Hope Mentoring,” a program to support children from multicultural families, in Jungnim-dong Jung-gu Seoul.

In attendance at the event were more than 80 people, including over 50 children and parents from multicultural families, and some 30 LG Innotek executives and staff members who served as coaches and mentors.

The “2012 Hope Mentoring” program was conducted for six months from May at the Company’s seven worksites, with participation of children from multicultural families who were selected as mentees, and of executives as coaches and staff members as mentors.

At the ceremony, LG Innotek concluded this year’s Hope Mentoring program, and presented certificates of completion and scholarships to all children from multicultural families who participated in the program.

Also, Prof. Lee Jin-a from Brand-U Leadership Center conducted a “Hope Golden Bell” quiz show. Hope Golden Bell is designed to enable participants to share a sense of sympathy with children from children’s perspective through a program, in which mentors and mentees join hands to solve quiz problems regarding multiculturalism.

At the final session of the completion ceremony, the participants created a “Hope Tree,” to bid farewell to the Year 2012. In this event, mentors and mentees put down their wishes on memos, and hanged on a “Hope Tree” to share thoughts and ideas with each other.

Sang-hyeon Park, 29, staff member of the Optics Solution Team who served as a mentor, noted in his Hope Tree message, “Our relationship does not end here. Our relationship that has been formed this way will go throughout our life. Please contact me whenever and wherever you face difficulties and need help,” promising to continuously keep in touch with his mentee.

Hope Mentoring, which is conducted jointly by LG Innotek and the Korea Foundation for Women, is a staff participation-focused corporate social responsibility program designed for executives and staff members to support children from multicultural families. LG Innotek has completed programs for a total of more than 70 children from multicultural families over the past three years.

LG Innotek will continue to provide practical assistance to children from multicultural families along with the Hope Mentoring program in order to ensure that they can establish desirable personal identity and grow to key members of Korean society.
