LG Innotek (CEO Ung-Beom Lee) published its third ‘Sustainability Report,’ which covers the achievements of the company’s sustainable management activities in 2011.
The report, published for the third year running, contains the company’s business mandate – ‘Right Promise, Better Tomorrow.’ This vision reflects the company’s commitment to becoming a responsible global enterprise that implements respectable and sustainable management plans in order to help make a better world and a better tomorrow.
The report emphasizes the ways in which LG Innotek has evaluated and methodically responded to sustainability-related issues. For the report, the company selected the following four key issues of sustainable management: product and technological competitiveness; organization culture; environmental management; and social contribution. The company conducted surveys and interviews with stakeholders before deciding on these four key issues.
The report surveys the rapidly changing on and offshore market conditions and regulations, the demands of stakeholders and trends, and the company’s sustainable management achievements in responding to each issue.
Starting with the company’s competitive edges in its products and technologies for sustainable growth, the report introduces a wide range of organizational activities aimed at making LG Innotek an organization where all employees show respect and a considerate attitude toward each other–qualities which the company believes lie at the heart of competitiveness. LG Innotek also aims to be the kind of company where all of its employees are ‘spontaneously motivated to work hard’.
The report also gives major coverage to ‘Value Plus, Carbon Minus,’ LG Innotek’s strategy for reducing carbon emissions while enhancing value. In addition, the report describes how LG Innotek is growing together with local communities, focusing on the company’s social contribution activities for multi-cultural families and adolescents.
‘Whether an enterprise can survive or grow largely depends on its capacity for sustainability,’ said CEO Ung-Beom Lee. He went on to say that, ‘All employees need to nurture their own ‘sustainable management DNA’ to help the company join the ranks of global sustainability leaders.’
In the meantime, LG Innotek has actively participated in sustainability-related activities in the materials and parts sector. The company has won the DJSI KOREA award for three consecutive years since 2010.
