LG Innotek has achieved a major breakthrough in energy conservation among electronics components by greatly increasing the energy efficiency of small and medium sized LCD modules and LEDs. Responding to the rapid increase in size of the small and medium sized LCD module business, this past March LG Innotek completed development of a low energy use LCD Module, and with LG Electronics is in the midst of commercializing and starting mass production of the product.

The LG Innotek low-energy use LCD Module provides more than 170°/170° viewing angles but compared to existing products operates on only 60 percent of the power, giving the module a wide number of application in mobile products. In addition, at 1.25t the LG Innotek LCD module is ultra-slim compared to other modules, and is more than 30 percent more luminous making it perfect for mobile phones on the leading edge of thinness.

According to a company spokesperson, “The development of a low energy use LCD module is the starting point for being able to provide more price competitive and functional products. We have broken down the equation that said high functionality, high luminosity automatically equals high energy use.”
