-LG Innotek has successfully developed the world’s finest ultra-slim 1.4 mm LCD module for cellular phones.
-This product can be used for normal black panels with 400:1 contrast and brightness of 300 nits.
-This product is scheduled to be mass produced in early July.
LG Innotek (CEO: Young-Ho Hur,www.lginnotek.com) has developed an ultra- slim 1.48-mm LCD module, even slimmer than a coin, which is designed to be used for cellular phones. This 1.48-mm LCD module is the slimmest of all existing LCD modules.
This module is considered a world-class product in terms of resolution and viewing angle, using 2-inch and 2.2-inch QVGA TFT LCD with a high resolution and wide viewing angle.
It no longer uses a conventional LED for its backlight. Instead, it is equipped with the ultra-slim LED and optical sheet independently developed by LG Innotek to increase color reproducibility of TFT LCD color filter up to 0%, compared to the existing modules. As a result, it succeeded in reproducing the colors of the nature as naturally as possible. There are two factors that have led LG Innotek to development of World’s slimmest LCD module. First, it has successfully made an ultra-slim LGP by using high-speed vacuum injection molding. Secondly, it has overcome issues of how to assemble the mold frame and LGP by using technologies that are still under patent registration process.
This product also has superior optical features like 400:1 contrast and 300 nits of brightness using a normal black panel, enabling it to perform much better than existing products despite its extreme slimness.
LG Innotek has already manufactured 2-inch and 2.2-inch prototypes, and the company will mass-produce the said LCDs beginning in July after completing in- company reliability tests.
LG Innotek is also focusing on technology development to launch the next- generation slimmest LCD module in the second half of this year so that LG Innotek aggressively copes with the market trend to be slimmer and smaller for an ultimate aim, that is, to be the best in the market.
