LG Innotek has decided to relocate its R & D Laboratory to Hanyang University in Ansan.

-First on-campus R&D Lab. established by Korean major parts maker.
-To play a key role in strengthening its technological edge and more effectively leverage manpower resources in the electronic parts-manufacturing industry.
-Cutting-edge R&D Lab. equipped with state-of-the-art facilities such as sleeping rooms, a fitness center, and many more.

LG Innotek (CEO: Young-Ho Hur, www.lginnotek.com) is scheduled to transfer its Components R&D Lab. from Pyeongchon to Hanyang University in Ansan on May 26. It is will be the very first components on-campus R & D Lab. established by Korea major parts company.

In February 2005, LG Innotek, the electronic parts maker of the LG Group, and its affiliate, LG Micron, have established a business partnership with Hanyang University as a part of the Industry–Academic Cooperation regarding parts/materials research and development.

The said laboratory (Chief: Park Jong Sul), which is to be completed in May, costs about KRW 30 billion, including the construction of a main building (7 floors above ground and 1 underground) on the 6,400 square meters. This laboratory, which can accommodate about 1000 researchers from both companies, will be donated to Hanyang University in twenty five years.

The LG Innotek–Micron Components R&D Lab. consists of a laboratory and a display room for customers, as well as a reception room covering 40 square meters. In addition, it has three sleeping rooms (two for men, and one for women), which researchers may use for rest and rejuvenation, or overnight stays. There is also a well-equipped fitness center provided for the health and well-being of the researchers.

Likewise, LG Innotek endeavors to provide researchers an optimal research environment in as many ways as possible in which they are able to perform their best.

LG Innotek and LG Micron are planning to develop this laboratory as a core parts/material research and development center based on the site’s geographical advantages allowing the institute to take full advantage of the infrastructure which refers to growing Industry–Academic Research cluster focusing on parts and materials burgeoning from the Ansan region. The said companies also plan to secure excellent and talented R&D human resources through this on-campus laboratory.

LG Innotek and LG Micron have also agreed to share their IT infrastructure and overall facilities to increase the operational efficiency of the laboratory, and they plan to strengthen their mutual cooperation to increase their research ability through active interchange with the faculty of Hanyang University.
