LG Innotek (CEO: Young-Ho Hur, www.lginnotek.com) is giving a warm hand to child-headed households in the Kwang-Ju area.

On the 17th of February, LG Innotek’s CEO, Young-Ho Hur, delivered school uniforms to middle and high school students who are entering their first terms and who are responsible for their family. The child-headed households involve over 30 individuals who are suffering from difficulties in their studies due to poverty.

Today, Young-Ho Hur handed out school uniforms and stated, "It is an obligation, not a charity, for a large enterprise to assist students so that they may be able to contribute to our country’s future development by focusing mainly on studying.” Also, since 2004, LG Innotek offers to all company officers a 1% Monthly Pay- Matching Grant system that provides funds for social contribution activities.

This company reinvests a portion of enterprise profits back into the society by steadily supporting an allowance of 1% mutual-aid for the express purpose of encouraging employees to actively participate in community programs. In this manner, funds are utilized to meaningfully benefit less fortunate neighbors through active volunteerism, in addition to other forms of assistance such as scholarship support, etc.

Recently, this company set up a relationship with Inha day center for the disabled and Yang-Ji Synthesis Welfare Facility, which is a labor-type charitable foundation of the Kwang-Ju area.

Since 2003, this company has made efforts to assist child-headed households, jointly with the Kwang-Ju branch of the Korean Welfare Foundation of Sisterhood, by providing school supplies and other various necessities of life to students. Beginning in 1987, it has delivered laptop computers or stationery items that students staying at the Inhwa Center as a token of the company’s resolution to demonstrate its company philosophy; that is, contribution to the society is the company’s obligation.

Furthermore, this company is expanding its social-contribution programs in foreign countries actively through its overseas divisions.

The Indonesian overseas division of this company delivers goats to local neighborhood residents for ’’Idul Adha’’, an Islamic religious festival held every year and is supplementing this activity with educational scholarships to high school graduates who are nominated through the recommendation of the local high school principal.

The Huizhou (China) overseas division of this company made contributions towards the Huizhou Synthesis Welfare Establishment during September of last year and is arranging for other various service activities in order to appropriately channel additional contributions to the local community.

Of particular note, Jong-Tae Lee, who is the president of the Huizhou overseas corporation, was awarded the title of “Huizhou Honorary Citizen” by Huizhou City Council last year in recognition of the generous charitable contribution activity from the Huizhou overseas division under his leadership.
